Summary:This study investigated student perceptions of online courses offered by SIU's Quality Engineering and Management online program. The study utilized the method for measuring and improving the quality of online courses using the quality function deployment (QFD) approach. This method was used to translate critical quality requirements for online course delivery, determined by student survey responses, into key instructional design/delivery elements that serve as a framework for online course development. This study focused on students' satisfaction and perception because of their role in analyzing the design/delivery elements based on quality function approach. In order to improve the online Quality Engineering and Management online program, the students' engagement will apply the most important key to successful improvement. In this study, both qualitative and quantitative methodologies were employed. The data was retrieved through an on-line survey. A written questionnaire was completed by 17 online graduate students in the Quality Engineering and Management program. The research results identified the most important technical requirements in online course design and delivery, and identified opportunities for improvement.
