An investigation into the mechanism of the optical resolution of "normal" -αγ-dimethyl-glutaconic acid by means of strychnine and the racemising action of acids and alkalis on the active acid
The glutaconic acids are a group of unsaturated dibasic acids in which both geometrical isomerism and tautomeric mobility are found. The mobility is associated with a three-carbon system activated by two terminal carboxyl groups.
