Quality data has been gathered through semi-structured focused group talks of 9 grade 4-6 teachers in Sweden. The teachers in the study describe how most of them already work with the concept of consent or an equivalent concept in their tuition and how they feel that this is a part of the school´s basic values. The teachers were not at all in agreement when it comes to the specific concept of consent since this is a very complex concept and can be interpreted in a variety of ways. All teachers in the study do agree that it is an important subject to raise in tuition. There is however a challenge in teaching without judgement and free of moralising. There is a risk that the views and opinions of the teacher and of society when it comes to what is considered "good" sex is not reflecting the reality faced by the students. The teachers do not feel that it would be too early to discuss consent in grades 4-6 and can instead see the benefits of building a foundation of mutual respect as early as possible. Introducing the concept of consent or an equivalent concept in the school curriculum would not cause any additional stress for the teachers in the study.
