The purpose of this study was to explore the relevance between the current situation of Kaohsiung elementary school teachers’ participation in maker education workshop and teaching efficacy. Quantitative method was applied in this study. The questionnaires sent out 160 teachers from 28 schools. 158 responses were received, and the response return rate is 99%. The instruments were “The questionnaire of The Current Situation of Teachers Participation Maker Education” and “Teachers’ Teaching Efficacy Questionnaire.” Data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics, t-test, MANOVA, and canonical correlation analysis. The major findings of the presented study are the following:
1.The current situation of Kaohsiung elementary school teachers participating in maker education showed that the number of the participants in “digital assistive tool application” is the most, comparing to the number of other study projects. The type of the study that most of the participants want to engage in the future is “Practice Type-free (practice, experience).” The main purpose of most of the participants taking part in the study is “Be interested in the course content.” The time that most of the participants want to engage is “Wednesday afternoon.”
2.The current situation of Kaohsiung elementary school teachers participation in maker education were significant differences in “gender”, “teaching subject”, “the member of school maker education community”, “enjoying internet maker education community”, “school area”, and “having maker education community in school.”
3.The highest satisfaction of Kaohsiung elementary school teachers participating in maker education workshop is “participation in external satisfaction.” The largest resistance to participate in maker education workshop is “resistance to external conditions.”
4.The teaching efficacy of Kaohsiung elementary school teachers can be significantly different due to the differences between the teaching subjects and participation in maker community of school. Moreover, there were significant differences in overall teacher’ teaching efficacy and each dimensions between Kaohsiung elementary school teachers who participated internet maker education community and who didn’t.
5.The satisfaction of Kaohsiung elementary school teachers participating in maker education workshop has a positive correlation on all dimensions of teachers’ teaching efficacy.
Finally, according to the conclusion of this study, the researcher puts forward specific suggestions for teachers, schools, educational administrative institutions, and future research.
