Summary: | 碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 教育研究所碩士在職專班 === 107 === This study was based on the action research method to explore the preliminary study on the effect of Augmented Reality on Children’s Picture Book Teaching for Language Learning. Eight preschool students were invited to do the research. They spent half day doing AR picture book study every day during summer in 2018. The objectives of this study after implementing the AR picture book study was as follows. First, to explore the effectiveness of AR picture book teaching on the implementation of language learning for students. Second, to find out the problems and solutions while conducting AR teaching. Third, to attain the self-examination and growth for teachers. The research was conducted through teacher's lesson plans, children's language learning assessments, unit tests and the data collected from the authentic assessments.
After doing the research analysis, I’ve come to three conclusions.
First, the image and sound effect of the AR picture books help students understand the content and plot of the book. And it improves children’s comprehension and expression to the story by "acting AR" and "speaking AR." Such a constant cycling of courses enables students to learn independently and shows apparent growing trend of students’ language learning curve.
Second, the study found the Unit Test (Traditional Assessment) , which mainly focused on language comprehension, should not be taken as the only assessment for preschool children’s learning indicators. Authentic Assessment, such as Speaking AR and picture drawings, did enhance children’s language expression ability. Teachers adopted the two assessment have proved that problems were solved easily.
Third, with this study, I had strong motive to involve AR into teaching and was keen to see that implementing AR into teaching proved to improve students’ language learning. However, I got frustrated when things turned out to be unexpected. Having said that, teachers should always remember to stay calm and keep a level head to observe student’s performance and conduct effective communication with the parents since different way of thinking and aspects may broaden your field of vision.
To sum up, implementing AR teaching has led preschool students improve learning in classrooms. Apart from the apparent growth of language learning, the other courses have also seen unexpected benefits, both on teaching and learning.
