Specifically, this study examined how preschoolers with different ages (3 Yrs vs. 4 Yrs), different genders (male vs. female), and with/out elder siblings performed on the geometric tasks. Forty-two preschoolers (M= 3 years 11 months) from south Taiwan participated. For each shape, these participants were asked to recognize this given shape from 13 cards with examples and nonexamples. The results showed that no age effect, gender effect, and sibling effect was found. Circles, Rectangles, and Squares were easier to recognize while but not squares . Preschoolers performed better on typical shapes than on atypical shapes, indicating preschoolers still had a very weak understanding about geometric shapes.
