We posited mastery orientation and performance orientation to be a mediator to explain the effects of negative feedback on work engagement. Also, we expected that managerial aspirations and core-self evaluations moderate the relationship between negative feedback and mastery goal and performance goal. This study adopted workers as research participants and adopted convenience sampling as the survey method for collecting data. This study obtained 863 valid questionnaires, and the response rate was 95.88%. This results revealed that: negative feedback had a negative effect on mastery orientation, performance orientation, and work engagement. However mastery orientation and performance orientation are mediator between negative feedback and work engagement. Finally, managerial aspirations has a moderating effect between negative feedback and mastery orientation or performance orientation; core-self evaluations has not a moderating effect between negative feedback and mastery orientation; core-self evaluations has a moderating effect between negative feedback and performance orientation.
