Summary: | 碩士 === 育達科技大學 === 資訊管理所 === 104 === When it comes to the education of Mathematics, teachers in junior high school have tried to use different teaching methods in the class. This study aims to answer the question of whether the implementation of peer teaching will be helpful in advancing students’ mathematic proficiency. The result of this study can be references for mathematical teachers and other researchers for their future study. The goals of this paper are as follows: (1) investigate the influence of peer teaching on learning effect (2) explore the influence of peer teaching on learning stability (3) examine the influence of peer teaching on the time that the subjects will spend.
RGSM was adapted as our research tool. We recruited two classes (fifty-four subjects in total) who were taught by the researcher. After Pythagorean theorem was taught in a traditional way, all of the subjects were tested. After that, we picked one of the class as our experimental group. We conducted peer teaching in this class and the other two classes (control group) were still taught in a traditional way. Four weeks later, all of the subjects will have a post-test. Their test results were analyzed by RGSM.
It is shown that the average score of the experimental group rise whereas no sharp differences can be found in the other two groups. Moreover, in terms of learning stability, it was observed that the performance of the experimental group tend to keep stable. As for the answering time, the experimental group spent less time completing the test sheet. To be more specific, originally subjects had to spend forty-three minutes on finishing all of the test items. After the teacher conudcted peer teaching, those subjects spent three minutes less than before. However, no big improvement can be found in the other two control groups with regard to the answering time. They all spent forty-three minutes on the pre-test and the post-test. Thus, it can be concluded that peer tutoring does bring noticeable effects in learning mathematics.
