Questionnaire of pedagogical content knowledge and teaching effectiveness of elementary schools social studies teachers in Yunlin County is designed as the tool of this study. The sample includes 457 elemetary schools social studies teachers in Yunlin County.The data of the survey is analyzed with mean, standard deviation,t-test, one-way ANOVA and structure equation model.The conclusions are as the follows: 1.Social studies teachers express good level on the pedagogical content knowledge in Yunlin County. 2.The performance of teaching effectiveness of social studies teachers is good level in Yunlin County. 3.The pedagogical content knowledge obtained from social studies teachers of the highest educational level, seniority,position and social studies related departments of the graduate shows significent differences. There is no difference among social studies teachers of school size on the pedagogical content knowledge. 4.The teaching effectiveness of social studies teachers of seniority, position,school size and social studies related departments of the graduate is different. Social studies teachers of the highest educational level show no difference on the teaching effectiveness. 5.There is high positive correlation between pedagogical content knowledge and teaching effectiveness among social studies teachers. 6.The fit of causal modeling between pedagogical content knowledge and teaching effectiveness among social studies teachers is good. According to the conclusions.This study provides advices to educational authorities,pre-service educational institutions,elementary schools,social studies teachers of elementary schools and future studies.
