This study focuses on their use of employing board games in their classes as a method to enhance and improve the English ability of their students. In the study, a background and cultural analysis is given in order to provide background on the current situation and expected methodology. This study includes four interviews and an account from the researcher which details the problems both from the perspective of the teachers, and from the perspective of the students and the benefits gained from their use of board games in class. A variety of different games are discussed and examined to determine their specific ends that a teacher will use them to achieve. Each of the teachers is from a different cultural and academic background, although all are Western, and have been in a Taiwan for different lengths of time. The analysis of these interviews is through the model of intercultural communication by Brian Spitzberg, and the motivations of the teachers are further explored by through the use of the Mosaic Approach from Alison Clark. Conclusions are then drawn as to the meaning of this new method of teaching, in regard to the future direction of the educational system. none 葉蓉慧 2015 學位論文 ; thesis 100 en_US |
