Summary:碩士 === 靜宜大學 === 食品營養學系 === 103 === Nutrition related general education course (NGC) is one of the major nutrition knowledge sources for non-nutrition majored college students, so it can be a channel to promote the 2011 Daily Food Guide (DG). The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the NGC on promoting the 2011 DG. The management majored college students from four universities in Taichung were the main subjects in this study. A self-designed questionnaire was developed to measure student’s knowledge, attitude and dietary behavior. This study investigated 813 students, 164 of them (20%) had taken NGC (NGC group). Among the NGC group, 92 students (56%) reported having received DG content during the class (DG group), and others did not (non-DG group). Regarding to the DG intake recommendation knowledge score, the NGC group (1.2±1.6 points) and DG group (1.9±2.0 points) had a significant higher score than non-NGC group (p=0.011) and non-DG group (p<0.001). Regarding to the negative dietary habbit score, the DG group (7.6±2.1 points) had a significant lower score than non-DG group (8.3±2.1 points) (p<0.05). Moreover, Regarding to the dietary behavior of six categories of food score, the DG group (1.9±1.5 points) had a significant higher score than non-DG group (1.4±1.3 points) (p<0.05). The results indicated that taking NGC and studying DG content during NGC might improve college students’ nutrition knowledge and dietary behavior. In conclusion, taking NGC may increase students’ DG nutrition. Moreover, teaching the DG content during the NGC could increase dietary behavior toward 6 categories of food. Hopefully, the nutrition related general education course will become an important channel on promoting DG in the future.
