The changing criterion design of the single subject was used as research method in this study. The independent variable was the AAC teaching, which included functional vocabulary teaching and the generalization. The dependent variables were the immediate and maintain effectiveness of learning vocabulary of functional. The researcher collected all the phases of experimental data, and then, used the visual analysis to analysis the learning effectiveness. In addition, the relevant personnel was interviews by the researcher in order to obtain social validity. The results of the study were as follows: 1. When used life management courses for an elementary school student with Down syndrome, AAC could improve his functional vocabulary learning in all experimental phases. 2. When used life management courses for an elementary school student with Down syndrome, AAC had the effectiveness of functional vocabulary learning into general settings.
