This study was based on both qualitative and quantitative research method design. Through participant observation and semi-structured interviews, three Taiwan and three Hong Kong elementary school English teachers’ viewpoints about English teaching were deeply investigated while sixteen teachers’ perceptions on teachers’ beliefs and practices in both places were understood and analyzed through questionnaires. A constant comparative method was administered during the data analysis for developing emerging themes and categories. The findings of this study primarily included the following two foci: (a) the similarities and differences of English teachers’ beliefs in terms of teachers’ language proficiency, teaching styles, and teachers’ self-efficacy between Taiwan and Hong Kong, and (b) the similarities and differences of teachers’ practices in terms of their teaching strategies, curriculum design, and cultural perspectives in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
