The research method of this study was narration, mainly discussing the adaptive process as a novice director of a public preschool. During the two-year being a public preschool director, the researcher collected the happened significant events, reflected on the role of director and perceived the implicit issues and viewpoints behind these events. In addition to analyzing the personality of the researcher, the problems caused by the role transition from a director to a teacher, and the coping strategies, the researcher also attempted to assay the challenges that a novice public preschool director would face from various dimensions of public preschool organism, system, the culture of the organization, professional capabilities, and the role difficulties.
