| Summary: | 碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 資訊管理系碩士班 === 100 === In Chinese, full-name entities are frequently abbreviated in speaking and writing for convenience and simplicity. For example, we often transform 雲林科技大學 into 雲科大. With the development of web technology, the speed of abbreviation creation and distribution is faster than before. We can easily identify the relationships between abbreviations and full-names, but computer systems may regard them as different terms. It is a challenge to find out the corresponded rules and apply them in the information retrieval application. With this reason, we propose a novel method to correspond abbreviation and full-name. Until now, there have been a lot of researches in Chinese abbreviation, but no research considers the polymorphism issue. For example, we could abbreviate 東吳大學 or 東海大學 as 東大. Understanding the possibility of polymorphism in an abbreviation, we conduct the experiment and extract the results with this feature as "Polymorphism Abbreviation". Our experimental result shows that the average value of precision and recall range from 85% to 98% and 90% to 99% after conducting our method and extract polymorphism abbreviation. It could provide more reference for users when they search.
