Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄第一科技大學 === 應用德語研究所 === 100 === In Taiwan there are more and more foreign children’s books. Through those books children can learn about foreign culture. However, publishers hardly pay attention to the quality of translation, because the volume of sale is more important for them. Therefore, we can say that the translation quality in Taiwan is being neglected. According to Katharina Reis, the translation process of children’s books is complicated due to the features of children recipients and intervention of patronage. For this reason we are not allowed to analyze and evaluate the translation quality of childern’s books in the same way as adult literature. We have to find other solution to the same translation problems which also arise in adult literature. The issue we have is how to solve these translation problems that arise in children’s books. Which strategies does translator use to deal with these difficulties that s/he encounters in translation process of children’s books? Do translators use these strategies appropriately? This thesis looks into the Chinese of translation of Wir pfeifen auf den Gurkenkonig, a famous german children’s book, from the perspective of Katharina Reis and Christiane Nord. According to the results, I will offer my opinions to the improvement of translation quality of children’s books in Taiwan.
