This progression of technology also begins a new page of the modern food processing, The industrialization and urbanization had great influence over canning technology ordinarily invented for the military, that every kinds of food were transferred into a factory production line and been deposited into can. “Ready to eat” is the characteristic of canning food, and is welcomed by the labor which had no time for cooking. In addition, European countries put lots of money, goods and materials into sailing development and overseas expansion since the Great Navigations. It is a big problem that how to maintain the power over colonies and overseas territories. As time goes by, New Imperialism and the development of economy, industry and luxurious life in native countries need more and more resources transported from the colonies. The canning technology plays an important role in connecting native countries and overseas territories, and even more the supply and demand system in today's globalized society. This article discusses the impact of canning technology over nineteenth-century European and American diet.
