Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺北教育大學 === 特殊教育學系碩士班 === 99 === The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the self-instruction strategy on controlling impulsive behavior of children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Three participants were elementary children with ADHD syndromes in third and fifth grade respectively in Taipei City. The single subject research with A-B-M model is adopted as the manner of conducting the study. The independent variable is self-instruction strategy. On the other hand, there are two dependent variables, (1) the learning effects of self-instruction strategy, and (2) the immediate effects and the maintaining effects of self-instruction strategy on children’s impulsive behavior levels. The data were analyzed by visual inspection techniques. The major findings were synthesized as following:
1.The children with ADHD could learn and apply self-instruction strategy well.
2.The use of self-instruction strategy has remarkable positive effects on controlling impulsive behavior of children with ADHD during the self-instruction assignments.
3.The use of self-instruction strategy was successful in controlling impulsive behavior of children with ADHD after the self-instruction assignments. The maintaining effects were found in this study.
Finally, according to the findings of this study, some suggestions and implications were provided for teachers and future studies.
