Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺中教育大學 === 幼兒教育學系碩士班 === 98 === Using an action research approach, this paper designed science plays for young children and integrated them into preschool teaching activities to understand the teaching process, implementation effectiveness, problems encountered in the teaching process, and solutions to the problems and further analyze young children’s learning experience and the researcher’s professional growth. The research field was a kindergarten of an elementary school in Taichung City. The research subjects were 27 students of a senior class. These students were divided into three groups and given a different science play each week from Jul to Nov 2009. A total of 16 teaching activities were implemented. Video and audio records of the teaching process, journals, review records of team teaching, observation records, learning sheets, children’s learning and growth book, and records of interviews with children and parents were collected and used for analysis and discussion. The main findings of this action research are as follows: (1) Science plays for young children can be integrated into preschool curriculum; (2) Young children’s development and interest should be emphasized in teachers’ design of teaching activities; (3) Science plays can enrich young children’s learning experience and enhance their science attitude and cognitive ability; (4) Teachers should create an adequate learning environment and have sufficient time for science activities; (5) Teachers participating in this action research obtain growth in multiple aspects. Based on the experience gained from this action research, the researcher proposed some suggestions as follows: (1) In the design of science plays for young children, teachers are suggested to align the science plays to the theme activities of the curriculum, make sufficient preparation for the teaching, adopt pluralistic teaching and guiding skills, avoid over-emphasis on delivery of science knowledge, organize a group of team teaching, establish teaching and learning profiles, and fulfill evaluation and review of young children’s learning achievement; (2) Teacher training institutions and education institutions are suggested to set up an exclusive program on teaching of nature and science for young children and encourage research of science for young children. Besides, education authorities in the city/county government should provide training opportunities for teachers to learn science teaching and build a website of science plays teaching resources.
