The automobile industry is no exception. Large automobile firms will compete against their rivals in multiple markets and attempt to take the initiative to strategically affect rivals and gain first-mover advantage. Thus, the interactive behaviors in the competition among global automobile firms are diverse and complicated. Based on the perspectives of multimarket and strategic commitment, this study attempted to investigate the interactive behaviors in the competition among global automobile industries. The focus of this study was two-fold: (1) multimarket competition and competitive interaction; (2) multimarket competition, strategic commitment, and competitive interaction. The research analysis was conducted through the collection of secondary data. The analysis of multimarket competition and competitive interaction indicated that when the symmetry in the attraction of the target market to two firms is “high”, mutual forbearance of multimarket competition will be effective, but equivalent inhibition of competition will not be effective. Thus, the degree of multimarket contact between firms is “high”, if the first mover initiates a short-term tactic attack in the target market, the reacting firms will not be directly counterattack in the same target market. Whereas, the degree of multimarket contact between firms is “low”, if the first mover initiates a short-term tactic attack in the target market, the reacting firms will be directly counterattack in the same target market. The analysis of multimarket competition, strategic commitment, and competitive interaction revealed that when the symmetry in the attraction of the target market to two firms is “high”, mutual forbearance of multimarket competition and equivalent inhibition of competition will not be effective. Thus, when the symmetry in the attraction of the target market to two firms is “high”, no matter the degree of multimarket contact between firms is “high” or “low”, no matter the equivalent of territory interest between firms is “high” or “low”, when the first mover initiates a tactic attack action, the reacting firm will be adopts the same tactic attack action in the same target market. Besides, it was also discovered that when the symmetry in the attraction of the target market to two firms is “high”, no matter firm initiates a short-term tactic attack or a long- term tactic attack action, multimarket competition will be ont occur.
