The curriculum project was designed according to related literature and the Competence Indicators. Seven units were included and was practiced during the periods before the morning class. The purpose of this study was to explore whether the curriculum had immediate effects on gender stereotype of first grade elementary school students. A quasi-experimental design was adopted to 39 subjects. One class with 19 students was assigned to experimental group and the other class with 20 students was assigned to control group. The experimental group received the designed curriculum for 15 weeks(twice a week, each lasted for 40 minutes), while the control group did not. The self-developed Gender Attitude Scale for Low Graders and Gender Stereotype Scale for Low Graders were conducted as the assessment tools. The data collected were analyzed by Independent-Samples T-Test, One-Way ANOVA and Paired-Samples T-Test. Records of students’ learning reaction, feedbacks and peer-gathering were also applied to evaluate the project. Finally, some conclusions and suggestions were made for teachers to perform gender equity education. The conclusions of this study are as follows: (1) Difference on gender traits exists between boys and girls of first grade. Boys tend to be masculine, while girls tend to be feminine. (2) Both boys and girls of first grade have gender stereotype. (3) The gender stereotype of first grade students is sure to undergo certain change after attending the curriculum with picture books.. (4) This curriculum project proves to be workable in gender education and can be widely promoted.
