The research design of the study was a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design. Subjects were 63 fourth-grade students from an elementary school in Taichung. During ten-week experimental period, 31 students in the experimental group were taught through Kodaly approach, while 32 students in the control group were taught trough traditional approach. Analysis of covariance, independent and dependent t-tests were conducted to analyze the data. The findings of this study were following: The total score of children’s music attitude in the Post-test, experimental group was higher but not significant than the control group (p > .05). Comparing the Pre-test and Post-test of the experimental group, the score showed an increasing tendency although not significant (p > .05). The results of qualitative data collection and analysis were listed below: Both teacher and students enjoyed the Kodaly based lessons. In addition, they thought the class management and the interaction between teacher and students were better in the Kodaly based lessons. In the experimental period, students were eager to attend classes, participate discussion, and show deeper thoughts to music. Most students agreed the Kodaly approach “makes me love music much more.” For whom did not understand folk songs in certain languages, they also hoped to achieve higher goal in music learning. In the end of the experimental period, most of the students wanted to become musicians, music teachers or singers. As mentioned above, Kodaly approach can help children enjoy music more, and it shoud be recommended to apply to our “Arts and Humanities” curriculum. 陳淑文 陳曉嫻 2006 學位論文 ; thesis 203 zh-TW
