This study uses “Semi-Experiment Design.” 66 students in Da-ming elementary school are the objects of study. One class is the experiment group; another the control group. The experiment group takes the experiment courses for 5 weeks, 80 minutes per week. The control group, on the other hand, does not have any experiment courses. Besides, “Self Emotion Awareness Evaluation Chart” is used to measure the students’ abilities of self emotion awareness thrice, before the experiment, one week after and four weeks after the experiment’s termination. The data gathered is statistically analyzed with the help of “After Class Response Questionnaire” for the further understanding of the effect of emotion education. The result of this study is listed as following: 1. Female six grader students’ abilities of self emotion awareness are slightly superior to male six grader students. 2. Instant effects a. Emotional Education Courses have instant and obvious effects on strengthening the experiment group students’ self emotion awareness. b. Emotional Education Courses’ instant effect on self emotion awareness does not differ from sexes. c. Students in experiment group have progresses in all of the four aspects of self emotion awareness, especially in aspect 4: the frequency of self emotion awareness. And in comparison with female students, male students have more obvious progress. 3. Tracing Effects a. Emotion Education Courses have tracing effects on elevating the abilities of self emotion awareness of experiment group students. b. Emotion Education Courses have tracing effects on elevating the abilities of self emotion awareness of male students in experiment group. But the effects are limited with the female students of experiment group. c. Emotion Education Courses have better tracing effects on elevating male students’ self emotion awareness than on female students’, but the differences are minor. d. Students in experiment group have progresses in all of the four aspects of self emotion awareness; male students have more obvious progresses. Among the four aspects, male students have obvious progress in aspect 3: awareness of causes of self emotion and aspect 4: the frequency of self emotion awareness. Female students’ progresses are less obvious. 4. The effects of experiment group students’ assessment on Emotion Education Courses a. Half of the students express their fondness of experiment courses for the courses are helping them realize self emotion, be aware of self emotion, and vent off or transform emotion while necessary. b. Students’ self changes and progresses result from assessing Emotion Education Courses include “increase knowledge about emotion,” “realize how to deal with emotion,” “know how to express emotion,” “learn how to handle emotion”…etc. At last, I will propose suggestions according to the study for the applications on Emotion Education Courses and student counseling and providing references for further studies.
