The subjects were four regular classes of fifth-grade students of an elementary school in Pingtung County in Taiwan. The four classes were randomly assigned to Experimental groups students and Control groups. There are 69 and 67 students in each. Experimental groups received " eclectic communicative language teaching"while the Control groups received "common English teaching".The experiment was conducted for 16 weeks/times. The measurement of this study was the English Learning Attitude Scale of the fifth-grade students in elementary school. The collected data in the hypothesis one was analyzed by one-way ANOVA with the scores of the pre-test in English learning attitude scale as covariates, two different instructional methods as the independent variable and the posttest scores as the dependent variable. The collected data in the hypothesis two was analyzed by one-way ANOVA with two different instructional methods and pretest scoresas the independent variables and the posttests scores as the dependent variable. The results of this experiment were as follows: The results were summarized as follows: (1) In terms of attitude on cognitive component towards English , no significant differences were found in two groups students’ English learning attitude scale(2) In terms of attitude on behavioral component towards English , no significant differences were found in two groups students’ English learning attitude scale(3) In terms of attitude on affective component towards English , no significant differences were found in two groups students’ English learning attitude scale. But in interviews, two different instructional methods to experimental and control group students have found frontward learning attitudes. Based on the results of the study, the researcher also provided a discussion in which some recommendations have been made regarding instructional assistance and future studies.
