The single-subject design across subjects was adopted. Milieu teaching was independent variable and the correct rate of functional language of moderate mental retardation student was dependent variable. Subjects were two moderate mental retardation children whose age was eight and half and nine years old respectively. Behavioral data were collected during baseline, intervention, and maintenance phases. Data was analyzed by Visual analysis to show the influence of milieu teaching on functional language of two subjects. Also, data analyzing was supported by parents and teachers interview . The major findings of this study are: 1、Milieu teaching increased correct rate of functional language of moderate mental retardation students. 2、The effects of Milieu teaching can maintain correct rate of functional language of Moderate mental retardation students. 3、Milieu teaching also showed promising signs on improving generalization of functional language. 4、The 「model」、「mand-model」and 「time delay」of Milieu teaching increased correct rate of functional language of moderate mental retardation students.
