In order to develop power, muscle have to contraction as rapidly as possible in resistance training. Ballistic movements have been shown to consist of many characteristics that set them distinctly apart from traditional slower ramp movements such as high velocity, acceleration, and no deceleration phase before the end of the movement. The aim of this study was to design a ballistic load brake which can stop the platform acceleration throughout the range and released from the foots. Twelve taekwondo male athletes were selected as the subjects which divided into two groups ( Experimental group and Control group ). The training program for experimental group and control group are ballistic training and traditional weight training, respectively. The training duration is 2 times a week in 6 weeks. All subjects were tested of power( Vertical-jump, Standing triple step jump and 30M sprint ) and maximal strength of lower extremity. The results of the study are summaried as followed: The vertical-jump, standing triple step jump and maximal strength of lower extremity were significantly increased for experimental group. ( P<.05 ) The vertical-jump was significantly increased for control group. ( P<.05 ) Comparison of training effect between two group shows that experimental group is significantly better than control group in vertical-jump.
