Considering the wide recognition of biological technology in recent years and the stalemate of technological upgrade confronted by Foods Technology in Taiwan, the thesis is to explore the relationships between foods industry and biological technology in terms of the following perspectives:
1. It is to understand the current situation of biological technology industry in Taiwan and availability of resources to the industry.
2. It is to analyze the environments of foods industry in Taiwan and its future trends.
3. It is to explore impacts of application of biological technology to foods industry.
II. Methodology
The thesis is to analyze impacts of biological technology on foods industry and relationships between them by interviewing biological technology academics and collecting related information of foods industry.
III. Results
A. Current Situation of Biological Technology in Taiwan and Capacities of the Technology.
1. Taiwan has sufficient capacities of basic research and development to support the development of biological-technology-related industries.
2. A well-established system of upstream, mid-stream, and downstream industries of biological technology is missing in Taiwan and is in urgent need.
3. Biological technology will be the imperative task necessary for development of future technology in Taiwan in terms of market demands.
B. Current Situation of Foods Industry in Taiwan and Its Trends
1. Current foods market in Taiwan is reaching maturity and needs to introduce new technology to stimulate market demand.
2. Foods consumption is approaching reasonable demand.
3. Foods industry in Taiwan needs to introduce new technology to cater to future trends in development of foods.
