Summary: | The paper describes the results of a theoretical research on the teacher’s role in videoconferencing in educational contexts, particularly at the university. The research was aimed at providing a didactic guidance to teachers using videoconferencing as a material aid in learning activities contributing to innovative processes in teaching. Interviewing personnel related to the Information Technology and Communications (ICT) in the teaching process and webmasters was quite a helpful device for gathering information. This paper is part of an ongoing scientific research conducted by the staff of Computing and Communications Department and (DICOM) at "José Martí” College of Education. The paper describes the use of videoconferencing as an educational resource, and ways to use it, the actions to be taken by the teacher before, during, and after using videoconferencing, its main applications in the teaching-learning process, and the role of the actors involved in order to promote a positive thinking on students and teachers. The proposal was appraised in a workshop where participants agree with authors suggestions related to potentials, advantages and teacher’s role.
