Description
Summary:The present text presents some concepts and offers some thoughts on the relationship between those children’s games produced in the daily life of a school, during the break, and the socio-dynamic elements that contextualize children’s culture. The meanings of the words game, toy and playing are analyzed and contrasted in the light of the playing produced by the experience of a child really engaged in those activities. Based on studies by Florestan Fernandes (2004), the present work highlights forms of socialization involved in the playful activity of children’s groups, the role of cultural transmission performed by playing, and the creative dimension of playing, which turn children into socialization agents and producers of children’s cultures.
