To that end, we present a matter of hindsight on that theme, highlighting both (a) some conceptions and philosophical views on dialectics and (b) some theoreticians/philosophers of this theory. Through our retrospective, we seek to show a historical development of the concept of dialectics. Furthermore, we analyze theoretical assumptions toward dialectics (e.g., contradiction, totality, and movement), focusing on the context of practice and education of mathematics teachers. We also regard some episodes that characterize the process of knowledge appropriation within the dialectical theory (síncrese, analysis, and synthesis), emphasizing the synergy of this view to teacher education. Finally, we indicate some remarks on the possibilities of promoting aspects of pedagogy and technological education in mathematics, through the notion of dialectics, which may emerge from attempts for continuing qualification of teachers regarding online distance education.http://ojs.ufgd.edu.br/index.php/ead/article/view/4940Dialética.
