Description
Summary:This paper is part of a broader research project on public policies geared towards childhood education, teacher training projects and epistemological assumptions for, with and about child and childhood. This text discusses aspects of the expansion of the number of public sector primary education places and reflects on the quality of the educational projects run by the institutions that serve children aged from zero to five years and eight months old. This research is of theoretical nature and uses a review of the literature as the main methodological procedure. The results obtained reveal that the need for the quantitative expansion of early childhood education does not occur at the expense of educational quality projects that depend, among other things, on the participation of children and families, adequate physical infrastructure and the appreciation of professionals through the payment of the wage floor and training according to the requirements set out in the Brazilian legislation.
