Description
Summary:The present study examines demographic, personality and situational variables as predictors of shift-work tolerance in an industrial company in Ahvaz. The sample in the main stage consisted of 300 shift-workers and in the validation stage of the research tests, 100 shift-workers who were selected by using stratified random sampling. The subjects divided into two groups (low tolerance shift-workers versus high tolerance shift-workers) by using survey of Shift-workers (SOS) questionnaire. Then, each group of subjects completed NEO questionnaire and demographic questionnaire provided by the researchers. In order to analyze the data, discriminate analysis and in the validation stage, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient were applied. The results confirmed the hypothesis of study. On the other hands, findings revealed that tolerance of shift-work can be predicted from demographic (age, education, number of children and record), personality (neuroticism) and situational variables (morningness, rigidity/flexibility and workload). The obtained results are fully described in the article.
