Summary: | This work aims to put in evidence how the construction of art images can contribute to the learning of specific contents in Geometry, dealt in Basic Educational System, bearing in mind that a great number of students find difficulties in abstraction and signification, both necessary to a real and fully satisfactory understanding of this school subject matter. Introductory concepts to Geometry were set available as pre-requests in order to establish the needed competences so that students could execute the project. The fundamental hypothesis was based on the perspective of developing the Geometry and Arts knowledge interdisciplinarity, trying this way to promote a meaningful correlation between the recognition of geometric drawings and their applicability in everyday life as well as their creativity and visual representation. Drawings built by the students were analysed as a way to show they were able or not to deduce the studied geometri cconcepts. The chosen activities involved the recognition and construction of the geometric drawings which compose the tangran, characterized by plane figures and the construction of the astroide figure image, using concepts of Cartesian coordinates and the tangent straight lines. The results show guidelines that suggest educators and teachers should truly respect those areas of both cognition and subjective extent in each one of the students.
