Rationale for its use is presented from the perspective of developmentally appropriate practices for children ages birth-8. Its role in the early childhood classroom is supported through the discussion of findings from several research studies. The role of the early childhood educator is discussed as a factor for appropriate classroom use. The need to prepare early childhood teachers in the use of technology is discussed as a factor to support its integration in the classroom.
