Using technology in the early childhood classroom: Some comments and observations

<p>This article discusses the role of technology in the early childhood classroom considering current societal needs and expectations. Rationale for its use is presented from the perspective of developmentally appropriate practices for children ages birth-8. Its role in the early childhood classroom is supported through the discussion of findings from several research studies. The role of the early childhood educator is discussed as a factor for appropriate classroom use. The need to prepare early childhood teachers in the use of technology is discussed as a factor to support its integration in the classroom.  Suggestions for use of technology as part of early childhood practices are presented.</p>
