Use of mechanical activation to obtain Mg(OH)2 from olivine mineral for CO2 capture

A mixture of olivine and (NH4)2SO4 was reacted in the solid state at 300–500 °C for 1 h. This was followed by mechanical activation of the reacted material for 4–16 h in a laboratory attrition mill.
