«WELFARE DICTATORSHIP» (ON THE SPECIFICITY OF SOCIAL POLICY IN THE GDR)
The paper researches the social policy in the German Democratic Republic (1949 – 1990). Factors of social policy making (e.g. official ideology, political and economic systems) are revealed. The author advances arguments against defining the GDR as a welfare state.
