We used a structured interview designed to identify habits in the use of free and lesure time, and field notes, instruments that allowed an analysis by triangulation of the observation process. The organization and interpretation of data analysis were conducted in the framework of the theory of Human Scale Development of Manfred Max-Neef, a playful approach to the psycho-pedagogic method in order to analyze its effects as an influence on the satisfaction of human needs. The findings show the need for another educational model that promotes creativity, solidarity, fun, and integration generates enthusiasm and motivational attitudes of young people subjected to extreme stressors, and promotes mental, physical and social development to prevent drug dependence and promote a social process of transformation in these neighborhoods.http://revistas.urosario.edu.co/index.php/apl/article/view/1533/1806recreationaleducational psychologyyoungpreventiondrug dependence
