Constance Wu
Constance Wu (Chinese: 吳恬敏; born March 22, 1982) is an American actress. She is known for portraying Jessica Huang in the ABC sitcom ''Fresh Off the Boat'' (2015–2020), which proved to be her breakout role and earned her four nominations for the Critics' Choice Television Awards.She starred in the romantic comedy-drama film ''Crazy Rich Asians'' (2018), for which she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy becoming the fourth Asian to be nominated in that category. She has since acted in the films ''Hustlers'' (2019), ''Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile'' (2022), and ''The Friend'' (2024). On television, she acted in the web series ''EastSiders'' (2012–2017) and the Amazon Prime action thriller series ''The Terminal List'' (2022). She also voiced Daphne Blake in the Max animated series ''Velma'' (2023–2024).
On stage, she acted in the Los Angeles production of ''2:22 A Ghost Story'' (2022) as well as in off Broadway productions of the rock musical ''Little Shop of Horrors'' (2023) and the comedy-drama play ''Shit. Meet. Fan.'' (2024). Wu was included on ''Time'' magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2017. She has been an activist towards Asian representation in U.S. media.
