|a Environmental health comprises aspects of human health that are determined by factors in the environment. Globally, nearly one-quarter of all deaths and of the total disease burden can be attributed to the environment. Proper planning in urban (including neighbourhood) planning such as the provision of safe resources (e.g. water, air & food) and a safe/conducive environment (home, work, leisure, sports, recreation & transportation) is an important contributor to healthy life. Thus, this paper is to discuss issues related to human health (e.g. non-communicable disease) and healthy lifestyles in relation with the neighbourhood planning and environment. (C) 2015 The Authors.
