Summary: | Bearing capacity analyses can be solved using exact and numerical solutions which assumes soil failure obey to Mohr-Coulomb criterion. However, the Mohr-Coulomb yield criterion has singularities and numerical difficulties in plastic potential of soils. In this study, the bearing capacity analyses were determined using finite element method with assumption soil behave in elastic perfectly plastic obeying Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion. The Drucker-Prager match Mohr-Coulomb criterion was proposed to overcome the weaknesses of the Mohr-Coulomb model in the numerical modelling. A pair of dilation angle and friction angle ( associated flow rule) was used to investigate the effect of dilatancy angle on the strip footing capacity. It is found that the Drucker-Prager match Mohr-Coulomb model is realiable in these analyses. |
