|a Ulu Klang is prone to landslide and has recorded several life-taking cases. Its hilly areas are unstable mainly because of the terrain formations, human activities and heavy rainfalls. Looking at the cognitive behaviour, this study intended to see the cognitive decisions of the residents' of five neighbourhoods that previously experienced the landslides and their response after the tragedies. The findings suggested that respondents were well informed with the past landslide tragedies and the probability of incoming threats, but they choose to remain in their neighbourhood due to their own reasons. This study believed that this decision was very much related to respondents' cognitive behaviour. (C) 2013 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
