Description
Summary:Site Várhegy in village Kamenín (Nové Zámky district, Lower Hron region) has already provided a remarkable amount of artifacts dated back to the Early and Middle Bronze Ages. Recently we gained another two pottery items from this site, that inspired us to revisit earlier finds and re-evaluate previously known information. What attracts our attention here, is uncommonly high percentage of pottery belonging to the Otomani-Füzesabony cultural complex (OFCC), although the site is located in the peripheral teritory of Maďarovce culture. Several pottery finds, enriched with a hoard of bronze artifacts, enable us to synchronize this phase of settlement with the post-classical phase of OFCC and even to prove an immediate contact with the eastern Tisza region inhabited by OFCC by simultaneous presence of jugs with so-called turban-like body and the ones with conical neck and spiral ornamentation. All these facts allow us to presume, that site Kamenín-Várhegy could had been an enclave of OFCC population, which settled at eastern frontier of Maďarovce culture milieu in BB1 period (Koszider bronze hoards horizon).
