The problem of this study was to identify the locations of these meanings, using a semantic differential, as points in a three-dimensional semantic space consisting of evaluation, potency, and activity dimensions. The study was also designed to test two hypotheses. Hypothesis One was that there would be a significant difference between the male and female groups in their perception of the same concept about a journalism branch. Hypothesis Two was that there would be a significant difference between two concepts perceived by the members of the same sex group.
