Description
Summary:The purpose of this study was to analyze the reading group placement of children in grades one, two, and three of the Lodi Elementary School District for the 1956-1957 school year to determine if there is a difference in the success of boys and girls of the same chronological age in favor of the girls insofar as placement in a reading group is concerned. The variables were placement in a reading group, sex, chronological age, and grade level. Examination of the data collected was made to determine if younger children are as successful in reading attainment as their older classmates.
