That a child does learn to talk seems well supported by most authorities; and this is based upon experimental evidence. Just how a child can be taught to speak is not so widely discussed. Many writers have ignored this aspect of speech development, and the author is inclined to believe that many parents are completely unaware of it. The number of speech defectives in the country today indicates widespread ignorance of this problem. It is the purpose of this study (1) to show how parents can aid the speech development of their children; (2) to determine the ways in which parents often hinder their children’s speech development. 1950-01-01T08:00:00Z text application/pdf https://scholarlycommons.pacific.edu/uop_etds/1110 https://scholarlycommons.pacific.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=2109&context=uop_etds University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations Scholarly Commons Speech Speech disorders Parent and child Communication Sciences and Disorders Medicine and Health Sciences Speech and Hearing Science Speech Pathology and Audiology
