Summary:Abstract. This thesis deals with the importance of the individual work of a special educator in children's homes. Part of the description of the existing system of institutional education, including historical background. This system is then compared with models of care for vulnerable children used in other countries On the description of the system and fundamental issues that children in institutional care have, is based the individual request for the need of the work of a special educator focused on one of the main factors in the success of children - school success as a prerequisite for their future careers. The second part of the thesis is a description of the implementation of the changes in the form of the project, this part is based on the theoretical level from the description of the management of children's homes and their options, from what in the field of technical work and the skills of workers, children's homes. On this basis, then generates a description of the objectives and methodology of pedagogical intervention changes. In the practical part of the description of the implementation of the changes then continues, with an indication of the specific working procedures, which was controlled by the change in children's homes, the capture of risk points and experience with their solutions.
