Summary: | This diploma thesis deals with the gender differentiation of leisure activities in marriage under socialism. The theoretical part focuses on different approaches to leisure time activities under socialism and how these steps influenced their gender character. The goal of the theoretical part is to give an idea of living conditions of married couples after women accessed the labour market under socialism and to what extent it influenced the way how they spent their free time. The empirical part is based on analysis of semi- structured interviews with married couples who got married and joined the workforce in an era of standardisation. The aim of the diploma thesis is to reveal the gender character of particular leisure time activities and to what extent the married couples put emphasis on these activities in terms of gender. The aim of the research is to demonstrate the social phenomena revealed in the interviews in connection with the theories and thoughts presented in the theoretical part of the diploma thesis.
