The author aims at several objectives; to scrutinize the phenomenon of home from the point of view of some disciplines, to characterize housing in terms of social politics, to describe social housing support services for people with mental disorders, to find out how people who experienced a mental disorder and now live in a leased accommodation, with their family or in a sheltered housing perceive home, and to ascertain what is the minimal role of social support services in creating home for people with mental disorders. This thesis is divided into six chapters. In the theoretical part, in the first four chapters, the notion of home is described from the point of view of theology, philosophy, sociology and social work. The perception of home in people with mental disorders is the topic of the fifth chapter, which bridges the theoretical and the research part of the thesis. The sixth chapter presents the author's qualitative research analyses of interviews with people with social disorders. Three kinds of outcome data processing were applied. The qualitative work encompasses four unique patterns of perception of home.
