Summary:This thesis is describing a current media phenomenon of gastronomy and healthy eating habits. This thesis describes the eating habits before and after the year 1989. It deals also with the global tendencies, including for example globalization, technological progress and prosperity. It also summarizes major gastro trends in the Czech Republic. Next part of the thesis is focused on this phenomenon in the field of media. A special attention is paid to TV because of its biggest potential of influence. Closer attention is paid to well-known media gastronomic celebrities, who are supposed to have a major influence on shopping customs and eating habits of the society. This thesis includes a questionnaire survey about the public awareness of the well-known personalities and the quantitative analysis of the daily newspaper.
