The Diploma thesis "Jesus, the Light of the world, opens eyes to a blind man (John 9)" first presents and comments the structure of chapter 9 of the John's Gospel. The structure is divided into smaller together logically connected units that will be consequently elaborated in details (Chapter 1). Jesus came into the world as the Light. His concrete presence can be observed in singular cases of meetings of individual persons with Him as the Light. The example of it is the healing a man born blind. Jesus enlightens him, i.e. He brings him out of physical and spiritual darkness to the full light that is He himself (Chapter 2). A light in the Gospel of John is always related to Jesus. Jesus himself is the Light. This idea is presented in the Fourth Gospel as one of the principal vision of author's Christology (Chapter 3). Jesus expects that on this revelation of the light will be given an answer by a man. This answer is presented in the Fourth Gospel as a faith. One of typical johannine features of a faith is the relation between "seeing" and "believing" (Chapter 4). The whole Diploma thesis demonstrates that the motive of light, introduced already in the Prologue, is an important interpretative key to the Jesus ministry in words and deeds.
